Dharma Productions’ former executive producer Kshitij Prasad was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection to the drugs case linked to Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death case.
Now the latest report in Indian Express states Kshitij has said that NCB forced him to falsely implicate Karan Johar and other executives of the production house in the drugs case. Read on to know the details.
Kshitij was called in for questioning by NCB on Friday about Bollywood drug nexus. A day later he was arrested after 24 hours of interrogation. Kshitij’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde told the Indian Express that his client was ‘harassed and blackmailed’ by NCB investigators to make false statements implicating Karan Johar and his associates. The lawyer also said that Kshitij’s statement was recorded by Sameer Wankhede (in-charge of the Mumbai unit of the NCB) ‘wherein various patently false claims were inserted (in his statement) despite his (Kshitij’s) protests’.
“The NCB officers apart from Sameer Wankhede were courteous to Kshitij and provided him with a comfortable sleeping arrangement. The next morning when his statement recording resumed, Kshitij was categorically informed by Sameer Wankhede in the presence of several other officers, that since he was associated with Dharma Productions, they would let him off if he implicated Karan Johar and some others, falsely alleging that they consumed drugs. Kshitij refused to comply with this despite the pressure being mounted on him as he did not know any of these people personally and did not wish to falsely implicate anyone,” Manshinde was quoted saying in the report.
However, Wankhede has denied all these allegations by Kshitij. And NCB Deputy DG Jain reacting on the allegations said, “The investigation is being carried out in a professional manner and there is no intended target other than what is revealed during the investigation. The allegations (by Prasad) are absolutely untrue.”
Karan Johar though confirmed that in 2019 Kshitij worked briefly for Dharmatic Entertainment, a sister concern of Dharma Productions. However, the filmmaker denied knowing him personally. He also said that neither he nor Dharma Production is responsible for what people do in their personal lives.

#karanjohar for the very time issues a official statement after the NCB probe: Certain news channels, print/ electronic media and social media platform(s) are wrongly and misleadingly reporting that narcotics were consumed at a party that I, Karan Johar hosted on July 28, 2019 at my residence.
I had already clarified my position way back in 2019 that the allegations were false.
In view of the current malicious campaign, I am reiterating that the allegations are completely baseless and false. No narcotics substance was consumed in the party. I WOULD LIKE TO UNEQUIVOCALLY ONCE AGAIN STATE THAT I DO NOT CONSUME NARCOTICS AND I DO NOT PROMOTE OR ENCOURAGE CONSUMPTION OF ANY SUCH SUBSTANCE.
All these slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule.
I would like to further state that several media / news channels have been airing news reports that Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra are my “aides” / “close aides”. I would like to place on record that I do not know these individuals personally and neither of these two individuals are “aides” or “close aides”. NEITHER I, NOR DHARMA PRODUCTIONS CAN BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT PEOPLE DO IN THEIR PERSONAL LIVES. THESE ALLEGATIONS DO NOT PERTAIN TO DHARMA PRODUCTIONS.
I wish to further state that Mr. Anubhav Chopra is not an employee at Dharma Productions. He was briefly associated with us for only two months in the capacity of 2nd assistant director for a film, between November 2011 and January 2012 and as assistant director for the short film in January 2013. He has thereafter never been associated with Dharma Productions for any other project.
Mr. Kshitij Ravi Prasad joined Dharmatic Entertainment (sister concern of Dharma Productions) in November 2019 as one of the executive producers on contract basis for a project which eventually did not materialise.
However, in the past few days, the media has resorted to distasteful, distorted and false allegations. I hope the members of the media would exercise restraint else I will be left with no option but to legal
